ABOUT
Colourful, dreamy, spacious and entchanting. Vocalist and composer Nina Rompa’s (1994) music is rooted in Jazz, with influences from Classical and modern popular music. She plays with unusal formations and explores the many shapes the voice can have.
Moving through a wide range of styles and projects, Nina’s voice is described as layered and warm, clear and with great virtuosity.
She recorded her debut album with Just Listen Records that released in the fall of 2020. Recently she recorded her second solo album that will release in 2026 with Zennez Records. For this new record she wrote music with Dutch lyrics and did a collaboration with 3VIOLAS. Her first single, the titletrack of the new album HOOG, just released. Listen here.
Besides her new solo project she is part of the Edison Nationaal Vocaal ‘24 winning Brazilian band Cantorias, part of the Kika Sprangers Large Ensemble (nominated for the Edison Jazz Nationaal ‘25) and a member of the Kobra Ensemble.
Within these projects she touches on a wide variety of genres, singing (contemporary) Jazz, classical music, Brazilian music and European folk.
Since 2019 Nina is also a main subject teacher on the vocal departement of the Junior Jazz College (young talent program) at het Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
In November of 2018, Nina was part of the documentary series 'New Generation' by the NTR (Dutch TV) that focusses on young new talents in the Netherlands, together with her collegues Lilian Vieira and Anna Serierse.

At a very young age Nina sang in a youth choir and played the violin. Years later while having private singing lessons she got more and more interested in Jazz.
During high school she studied for two years at the Junior Jazz College on 'het Conservatorium van Amsterdam' and she played the violin for numerous years in 'Het Noord Hollands Jeugd Orkest' (youth orchestra).
In 2013 she started with the Bachelor program at het Conservatorium van Amstedam. Some of her teachers were Humphrey Campbell, Lydia van Dam, Lieve Geuens, Wiebe-Pier Cnossen and Lilian Vieira. In 2017 she graduated.
Since then Nina had some memorable projects. In 2024 she won an Edison Jazz-Nationaal Vocaal, with her band Cantorias. In the early summer of 2026 Cantorias went to Brazil for their first international tour. She has recorded a live album as a band member of the Kika Sprangers Large Ensemble (nominated for Edison Nationaal Jazz) and was part of several other projects such as Thomas Aziers 'Glossolalia', Davy Pieters piece HEAT and HERA, a new project by Kika Sprangers, that will tour in the fall of ‘26.
In the past years she has performed throughout the Netherlands in venues and festivals such as the BIMHUIS, Lantarenvenster, TivoliVredenburg, North Sea Jazz Festival ‘25, Transition Festival, and doing several collaboration with artists such as Thomas Azier, Pitou, the Koninklijk Orkest van de Luchtmacht and more.
She performed with Kobra, the Metropole Orkest and metal band 'Triptykon' at the Roadburn Festival, of this live performance an album was made.
